After a controversial 2015 festival, NXNE shook things up this year and launched their new Port Lands Festival this past weekend. As opposed to the previous free concerts in Dundas Square, the new festival was ticketed and at a lakeside location away from the downtown core. Going from free events to $60 – $75 tickets is hard to do, and so NXNE brought some Hip-Hop heavyweights including Schoolboy Q and Ghostface Killah. It would be my first time seeing Q perform live, and my ninth time seeing Ghostface, who is always full of surprises.
The good people at CulturedVultures.com were able to secure me a media pass to cover this festival, and so you can read my full review on their site using the link below. While I haven’t been hitting as many shows this year, I do plan on covering more festivals over the next few months! Cheers!
